APPLICATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY BENCHMARKING ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE HOUSING COMMUNAL SECTOR OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The article deals with the importance of efficient use of electricity in Ukraine. The purpose
of the article is to show the trend in the further development of European assessment experience in case of
using the proposed method for determining the level of energy efficiency of buildings. The incorrectness of
the European method for determining energy efficiency in relation to Ukraine is stated. One of the incorrect
methods focuses on the determination of the energy efficiency class of buildings on the basis of the European
standard. The object for calculating the class of energy efficiency is the dormitories of the NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. The results of calculations are compared with the reference value of the
energy efficiency class of buildings in Austria and the Czech Republic. In addition, the method for conducting a comparative analysis of energy efficiency is proposed, this method applying the approach used in
benchmarking energy efficiency. The basic concepts and ideas of benchmarking are shown, which will make
it possible to demonstrate the actual picture of the state of energy efficiency in the housing and communal
sector. As a result, the differences in the process of determining energy efficiency of the presented number of
dormitories are considered, which proves the advantages of this comparative analysis over the European
method for determining the energy efficiency class of buildings.
