In article it is considered application perspectives of switched reluctance drive with external excitation for the traction electric drive. Possibility of regulation of a field of excitation allows such drive to work in wide range of speeds at persistence of capacity, thus the machine is technological and simple in manufacture, and for control the classical three-phase inverter approaches
