CLASSIFICATION OF TEXT AND GRAPHIC REGIONS ON A FRAGMENT OF DOCUMENT IMAGE

Abstract

Paper describes method for graphic and text image region classification. Construction of the narrative function characterizing areas of the image sub-elements is proposed. This function can be used for training and classification using support vector machines. Experimental analysis of the method’s quality showed that correct classification can be performed with probability greater than 0.94, it also allowed to identify scope and limitations of the method.
