PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRACTION ENGINES OF PASSENGER ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Abstract.The design of modern traction motors for passenger electric vehicles is considered. It is shown that due to the growing price of permanent magnets, the use of motors with magnetoelectric excitation will become economically unfeasible by 2030. Alternative designs are considered and a conclusion is made about the need to develop new types of electric machines with electromagnetic excitation.
